In '$pringfield', Homer runs a casino and the episode parodies Las Vegas excess, featuring a Siegfried and Roy stand-in duo — 'Gunter and Ernst' — whose white tiger mauls them mid-performance on stage. In October 2003, Roy Horn of the real Siegfried & Roy duo was critically mauled by their white tiger Montecore during a live show at the Mirage, ending their legendary act. The Simpsons had staged the accident a decade early.
