The Full Story

In 'Bart After Dark', a futuristic doorbell intercom system at the burlesque house features a prominent circular scroll-wheel as its central interface — five years before Apple's iPod made the scroll wheel the defining UI of a generation. The first-generation iPod launched in October 2001 with an identical circular navigation wheel; the design became the most recognisable consumer electronics interface of the 2000s. The prop department drew it first.
